Fruit is nature’s candy. Vibrant colors, densely packed nutrients, loaded with sweetness and hydration, it’s as if nature wanted to give us a miracle in the form of food.
Because fruit is densely packed with nutrients and has a low caloric impact on our bodies, it is the ideal snack for us all, especially those who are wanting to lose fat. Not only is it densely packed with nutrients, but it is also almost entirely made from water and fiber, meaning that after consumption, you remain full for longer periods of time.
So, with a plethora of fruit out there, which ones are best for weight loss?
Grapefruit
Half orange, half pomelo, grapefruits are admired among fruit lovers and those who are seeking to lose fat.
One grapefruit contains roughly 80 calories and provides ¾ of the daily requirement for vitamin c. Grapefruits have a low glycemic index, slowly releasing the sugar into the blood instead of spiking blood sugar levels. Some research suggests low GI can assist in weight loss, but there’s still a lack of hard evidence.
Best eaten alone or in fruit salads, these bitter-sweet, juicy delights are one for any day.

Apples
High in fiber, and low in calories, apples have shown to support weight loss. Being nearly three times more filling than a chocolate bar, and containing far fewer calories, apples can help you eat less yet remain feeling full.
Fantastic as a whole snack and incredible in salads, apples have a wide variety of different uses.

Berries
Perhaps one of the best fruits to chow-down on during the day, berries are low in calories and are nutrient goldmines.
Only a cup of blue berries contains as little as 100 calories, where as a cup of strawberries contains 50 calories.
Not only are berries filling, delicious, and healthy, but they can also help decrease cholesterol levels, reduce blood pressure, and help with inflammation, especially in those who suffer from excessive weight.
Berries are best used in smoothies and in meals as a sweetener, but can be enjoyed by themselves too!

Melons
Melons are perhaps the best fruit for weight loss as their water content is ridiculously high. One cup of watermelon provides as little as 50 calories, making it the ideal snack for those nibbling urges. Watermelon does not have a low GI, meaning you should be weary of your portion sizes!
Melons are high in potassium, antioxidants, fiber, and other micronutrients such as beta-carotene, and more.
Melons are fantastic in fruit salads, savory salads and by themselves.

Avocados
Our personal favorite, these clumps of natural butter are actually a fruit. They are fatty and caloric dense, containing 160 per 100 g. This makes avocados one of the most caloric dense fruit, yet they still promote weight loss.
A study observed 61 overweight participants who ate a diet with either 200 grams of avocado or 30 grams of alternate fats (oil, butter, etc). Both groups experienced weight loss, indicating that avocados can help promote fat loss.
Avocados are a great replacement for butter and oil spreads, and are amazing in salads, smoothies and desserts.
